exploring different styles of music
There are three aspects to every unit of music which include Listening, Composition and Performance.
Each unit will have a project based on the central idea.

1) Performance
- Instrumental: Students will learn how to play keyboard. There are different levels depending on ability and therefore each child will work to their individual sight-reading and performance objectives.
- Vocal and Choreography: Students will learn the music and choreography for the Winter Concert.
2) Composition
- Developing music theory and melody writing skills
- Group project: In this unit we are inquiring into different styles of music. Each student will work in groups. They will have to become a band, select songs in different styles and research different styles of music. In Week 6 of the unit they will present their research to the class and perform their mini concerts.
- Developing aural skills and music vocabulary by analysing different styles of modern music (examples: rock, pop, country, jazz and musical theatre)
